When travel nurses think Nevada, they often think Las Vegas. While this world renowned city has some great attractions, Nevada has so much more to offer. The Reno-Tahoe area provides great skiing, beautiful vistas, and the high stakes gaming that its big sister to the south offers. Lake Mead, just outside of Las Vegas is a must see water recreational gift. For travel nurses that are into top secret government facilities, Nevada is home to the sensationalized Area 51. You will however be lucky to get within 20 miles of the facility.
Viva Las Vegas! What more can you say about this famous and equally infamous city. While the strip does attract most of the attention, the city does offer much more beyond casinos, world class shows, opulent hotels, and the most luxurious of shopping opportunities. Just south of the city lies Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, and the Colorado River. You can swim, fish, boat, kayak, and hike to your heart’s content.
Reno provides a completely different experience. Long gone is the dry desert scenery of Vegas. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are covered with snow for much of the year and are home to 15 different ski areas. This great city has a beautiful river walk area where you can enjoy white water rafting and celebrate the annual Reno River Festival. Choosing where to go in Nevada is always the toughest decision for travel nurses. What we like to recommend is DO BOTH!
